A comment from a medal recipient

I was so honored today!!! Thank you for the Medal4Mettle.
My battle is almost over I have a few more infusions to go. The
medal that was given to me was from an athlete who was disciplined, who
trained and endured the 26 mile marathon. Thank you for your
encouragement. Yes I feel like I am so close to the finish line. My
hair is growing back. My energy level is coming back and i am working
out again. I hope to be able to cheer others on as well! Those friends
and family members that run. Consider blessing someone with your medal.
Yep we are tough, and we got this!!!

Orchard Village Medal Donation

So grateful that I was actually able to be part of this medal presentation. Too many times there are scheduling conflicts or distance issues but this opportunity was in my hometown and such a blessing to be so close.

Orchard Village is a group that empowers "persons with developmental challenges to achieve fulfilled lives in the community. To accomplish this, we proudly partner with families, neighbors, caregivers, businesses and individuals to provide community-integrated residential, vocational, educational and in-home services for our customers. Working together, everybody benefits. The result: a winning partnership...a caring compact...a warm and mutual embrace."

They held their first 5K Run/3K Walk this past month and many of their residents and participants participated in the walk.  They were so excited to get medals as they crossed the finish line. It is seeing the the joy on their face that makes me know this organization makes a different in peoples lives.

#PrayForBoston

Medals4Mettle is collecting 2013 Boston Medals and will donate them to victims and first responders.  From the website:
All of us at Medals4Mettle are saddened by the unimaginable events at the 2013 Boston Marathon. This historic event celebrates the freedom we have to run through the streets of one of America's great cities on Patriot's Day. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who must deal with the loss of life and the pain of injury. Medals4Mettle will humbly accept donations of Boston Marathon finishers' medals to be sent to our Boston area chapters. We will then place Medals4Mettle ribbons on them and award them to the courageous victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon and the first responders that raced to help them while respecting the privacy of all victims and family members. To donate, please send medals to our Boston Area chapters listed on our chapter page.
Shipping these medals out today to Boston from Chicago!

For any of those that might be running in the next few days/weeks that want to show your support, you can download this bib i made.  I made it "bib" size so should print easily for you.  Just right click and "save image as" and then you can print from your computer.

For those in Chicago, here are some local runs:
Muddy Monk is doing a 2.62 Run - April 22
Run for Boston 5K- June 15
*I will be at the Lakefront 10 this Saturday with some others wearing this bib on my back.

Prayers and thoughts go to the families of those affected by this senseless act.
